About Our Review Site
Why did you crazies start this site?
Samantha and Amy noticed the lack of scholarly criticism of their writings in some reviews, and decided, "Hey!! We can provide such intelligent critiques for others!" And so the plannings of Ethereal Reviews came into being.
Amy and Samantha were in the very smallest of planning stages when Brenda, another crazy, offered her html services. Thus, the three of them formed a last alliance of reviewers to purge the world of all bad reviews (snicker).
What's with the name? Shouldn't you be "Scholarly Reviews," or something?
Definition of "ethereal": e·the·re·al (adj.) Characterized by lightness and insubstantiality; intangible. Highly refined; delicate. Of the celestial spheres; heavenly. Not of this world; spiritual.
We are obsessed with the writings of one J.R.R. Tolkien (see below for further explanation), and his most prized creation was the elves.
The elves are a race of immortal, wise, and fair beings that coexisted with Men in prehistoric times long forgotten.
Of course, this is all fictional. But we admire the elves, and they are frequently associated with light, and are described as refined, heavenly beings. So, ethereal was the clear choice.
Who's Tolkien, and what does he have to do with diaryland reviews?
J.R.R. Tolkien is the author of the century, in the opinions of some.
He penned The Hobbit, LOTR, and The Silmarillion, among other works.
He created the elves, and the three founders of this site met through a mutual love of his works and the movies that are based on them.
Actually, they met through The Lord of the Rings Sisters. Come check us out!!
If you have any other questions (more, well, review-related, anyway), please send them to etherealrevu@diaryland.com. Thanks!
