2002-10-06 - Some friendly tips

This is just a section in which we offer friendly advice for diaries we have gleaned from our experience on Dland.

*Bolder is not always better! My first diaryland layout was red, black, and yellow, with a swirly mouse cursor thing that was in rainbows. Though I thought it was cool, it was really blinding to other people.

*It is, of course, your diary, but sometimes it's nice to spice it up with little extras. Day by day stuff can be more interesting than deep introspective pieces if you write it in an amusing style. Examples: Phoebe, Afrai, and Avi all write about day to day events but they do it in a refreshing, innovative style.

*Individuality is the key. This is your diary, so make it your diary! Interested in Harry Potter? Design a layout featuring Snape (who we all know is the absolute sexiest). Like baseball? Write about games you go to and your favorite players. Have a penchant for music? Write about music in your every day life. Focus on what you love, and write from the heart--that's what really attracts readers.
